PIPE INSULATION Mechanical system piping insulation (Mandatory). Mechanical system piping capable of carrying fluids above 105°F or below 55°F shall be insulated to a minimum of R-3. Exceptions – HVAC equipment & run out piping 4 feet from valve.
PIPE INSULATION Circulating hot water systems (Mandatory). All circulating service hot water piping shall be insulated to at least R-2. Circulating hot water systems shall include an automatic or readily accessible manual switch that can turn off the hot water circulating pump when the system is not in use. Exception does not make sense.
EXHAUST FAN DAMPERS EXHAUST FANS REQUIRE BACKDRAFT DAMPERS MOTORIZED OR GRAVITY ALLOWED
EQUIPMENT SIZING Additional requirements for equipment sizing are included by an inspection for compliance with the Michigan Residential Code. M1401.3
SYSTEMS SERVING MULTIPLE RESIDENCES For systems serving multiple dwelling units documentation has been submitted demonstrating compliance with 2009 IECC Commercial Building Mechanical and/or Service Water Heating (Sections 503 and 504). No code sections in the book!
Swimming Pools:403.9 Heated swimming pools have an on/off heater switch. Pool heaters operating on natural gas or LPG have an electronic pilot light. Timer switches on pool heaters and pumps are present. Exceptions: Where public health standards require continuous pump operation. Where pumps operate within solar- and/or waste-heat-recovery systems. Heated swimming pools have a cover on or at the water surface. For pools heated over 90 degrees F the cover has a minimum insulation value of R-12.
SIMULATED PERFORMANCE ALTERNATIVE SECTION 405 Mandatory requirements. Compliance with this section requires that the mandatory provisions identified in Section be met. All supply and return ducts not completelyinside the building thermal envelope shall be insulated to a minimum of R-6. EnergyPlus Energy Simulation Software
COMMERCIAL ENERGY CODE Rule Rules governing the energy efficiency for the design and construction of buildings and structures, not including residential buildings, shall be those contained in the international energy conservation code, 2009 edition, section and the ASHRAE energy standard for buildings except low-rise residential buildings, ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA standard (hereafter the standard), including appendices A, B, C, and D.
