PHA 333 IPPE 2 Reminder Must complete 4 hours of healthcare related service during P2 year by the end of the spring semester Must attend 4 hours of professional meetings during P2 year May complete during summer/fall 2015 or spring 2016

IPPE 3 Hospital Block Summer hour (two-week block) experience in a hospital pharmacy practice setting. Blocks will begin the Monday after finals week Remember you will have a summer session on CU campus May May 30 – June 10 June June 27 – July 8 July 11 – 22 July 25 – Aug 5 Sites must be identified and submitted by January 2016.

Challenges Hospitals may be saturated with local pharmacy students Creighton campus students are driving up to 90 miles per day for IPPE 3 Exclusive agreements with local schools of pharmacy If it’s a new site, we need enough time to establish an affiliation agreement

IPPE 3 Hospital Block Summer 2016 Start searching in summer 2015 Search E*Value for existing sites in your area Make an appointment with the Director of Pharmacy to discuss the IPPE 3 requirements. Once they have agreed, ask for the clinical coordinator’s contact information. (AKA clinical educator, student placement coordinator, etc.) Student completes new request form (if necessary) Don’t enter information in E*Value - Manage Request or online form until given approval to do so.

IPPE 3 Hospital Block Summer 2016 A personal connection with the Director of Pharmacy and other pharmacists is essential! Phone conversations are easily forgotten Directors ignore s from experiential faculty when they don’t remember speaking with you. Be prepared to discuss the distance pharmacy program and the experiential requirements. Take a copy of the experiential brochure Take a copy of the IPPE 3 description

IPPE 3 Hospital Block Summer 2016 Nearly all distance students use IPPE sites for P4 rotations! Very important to network with the pharmacists and technicians at the IPPE hospital site! Be professional in all your interactions. Be engaged, motivated, and willing to learn during your IPPE block – these are typically the top ranking characteristics that preceptors want in students. If you display a negative/unmotivated attitude, or aren’t interested in learning during IPPE, then preceptors won’t want you back for P4 rotations.

IPPE 3 Hospital Block Summer 2016 It is your responsibility to inquire and complete the site requirements two weeks prior to the start of the experience. Each site will be different, Kathy Stuhr will assist you with any questions and Creighton held documents. Immunization record (including PPD) in NEST BLS verification Background check (unless site accepts Creighton’s background check) Drug testing HIPAA and OSHA training
