Introducing the Community Affairs Team Jackie Lynch Director Carolyn Vazquez Community Affairs Specialist 8 Chapters of dedicated African-American Task Force Volunteers Partners in the Community Transplant Centers & businesses supporting donation Empowering people to make life saving decisions through education and awareness about organ and tissue donation. Participation in community events and activities in a creative grassroots effort to reach out to people across the state with a call-to-action- REGISTER TODAY! To set a positive example to the public and others, and to help nurture our relationship with all volunteers, donor/recipient families, hospitals and community partners.

How We Connect In Communities The Myths and Misconceptions: Many communities still believe in false information about organ donation. We face many challenges at a very basic level in getting people to change their minds and register. Overcome the Challenges: AATF works directly with leaders and community based organizations to provide information and opportunities to register their decision to become donors Identifying existing opportunities to reach community members Customized outreach in specific areas- i.e. outreach in faith based organizations-pastors are important Maximizing resources and natural partnerships to inform people about the urgent need for organ and tissue don Continued development of the African- American Task Force-our volunteer base that works in 8 different chapter areas connecting resources and partners to help empower communities
