16. The Institute for Mexicans Abroad The IME carries out the functions of the Presidential Office for Mexican Communities Abroad and the Mexican Communities Abroad Program.

17. The Ventanilla de Salud or Health Window is a free program designed to help you identify the health services the people and families need in the United States and Mexico. Ventanilla is located in the Mexican Consulate, and can refer you to the health services available where you live and also provide you with information and education on a variety of health topics. Our main goals are to help prevent diseases, to promote healthy habits, and to refer you to health services, like those offered by organizations and community clinics where you can establish a medical home and receive the medical attention that you need. Done Vida has taken advantage of our position within the Hispanic Community to create a successful partnership. Their persistence and advocacy are elements that have helped maintain a good relationship.

22. Community building relationships occurs one-to-one. Some people become involved in organizations because they believe in the cause. However, many people become involved in a community group or organization, just because they have a relationship with another person who is already involved. We need relationships in order to win allies to our cause. In order to get support from people outside our organizations, we need to build relationships in which people know and TRUST us. Our relationships give meaning and richness to our work and to our lives. We all need a community of people to share the joys and the struggles of organizing and making community change.
