How big is it

 List the names of all the planets in our solar system in the correct order  Describe that our solar system is part of the Milky Way galaxy and a Galaxy is a collection of stars  Compare the relative sizes and distances from the sun of the planets within the solar system

 Write down in your book :- 1.One fact about the solar systems you know 2.One fact about the solar system you are are unsure about 3.One fact you would like to know more about

 Share your ideas with your table  Lest come up with a class list  Write down anything you find interesting

 List the names of all the planets in our solar system in the correct order  Describe that our solar system is part of the Milky Way galaxy and a Galaxy is a collection of stars  Compare the relative sizes and distances from the sun of the planets within the solar system

 Draw a line taking up 1 whole page in your book  One end is the Sun the other Pluto  Fill in the middle with the names of the planets and there position

 Each person collect one counter  We are going to lay out a 30m tape, which is our solar system.  Then we are going to guess where the planets are along that tape.

PlanetDistance from Sun Mercury 57.9 million km Venus million km Earth million km Mars million km Jupiter million km Saturn 1,427.0 million km Uranus 2,871.0 million km Neptune 4,497.1 million km Pluto 5,913.0 million km

 Draw a line in your book like before  Apply a scale to it from 0 to 6 million Km  Place your planets in the correct location  Now you have the real solar system

 Re-arrange the following in size order Galaxies, Stars, Universe, Planets, Cluster galaxies, Moons. Write a sentence describing what the universe is composed of.

 List the names of all the planets in our solar system in the correct order  Describe that our solar system is part of the Milky Way galaxy and a Galaxy is a collection of stars  Compare the relative sizes and distances from the sun of the planets within the solar system

 Write down 5 facts you have learnt today  Share them with your table group and expand
