3 moon sun  The moon is a grey rocky ball, about 3475km (2160 miles) across. It is about 385,000km (239,000 miles) from earth. The moon is earths partner in its journey around the sun. If you image the moon it is the size of a tennis ball.  The sun breathes life into our world. Without the suns light and heat, the earth would be dark and very cold lump of rock where animals and plant couldn’t live. The sun is a very hot ball of gas.
