Application Example Kleeco

1 st Customer Request I have some preliminary data for the wheel drives on a new machine. This is a 110 ton capacity 4 wheel drive / 4 wheel steering machine. The data is as follows: Machine GVW is 470,000 lbs. The loading will be fairly symmetrical so we can assume equal distribution between all four wheels – 118,000 lbs per wheel. Machine will operate on pavement up to 5% grade. Depending on what friction numbers you use, that puts us at about 285,951 in-lbs of torque. The rated travel speed of the machine is 120 feet per minute. The proposed tire diameter is 56 inches. Kind Regards, Dan Duncan Lake City Industries

More Specs 1.We will probably run the propel on a closed loop system to get dynamic breaking that is inherent to closed loop. 2.System PSI will be determined by the torque required by the closed loop system. We prefer systems that operate at 2500 psi or below but we can go up to 6000 psi if we have to. 3.Max is around 6000 psi because of the fittings that we use. 4.The engine will be sized once all of the systems are designed. 5.A parking brake is required. We will use the closed loop system for dynamic braking. 6.The pump will be specified once we determine the wheel drive motors. 7.I would prefer a planetary and motor combination as opposed to a wheel motor because of starting torque and efficiency, but we are open to looking a both options.

Proposal Use F80 O&K Gearboxes with 147:1 ratio (note: the bearing rating in the catalog are “per bearing” and there are two bearings). The hydrostatic motors should be Brevini H1CR-108 cartridge style motors. This is a cc/rev fixed displacement bent axis motor. Based on assumed pump speeds of 2100 rpm, you could use two 130cc Brevini SH6V hydrostatic pumps. I have attached a file showing the estimated performance of this system. Two different prime mover powers are shown: 50 and 75 HP.

2 nd Lift Hello, Dan Duncan notified me today that they sold another lift, 4WD again and he’ll need hubs, motors and pumps. I’d like for you guys to do as you did on the last one and do some sizing for him on it. Parameters: 265,000 pounds GVW Speeds, travel up to 3 MPH. If two speed motor needed shoot for 1.5 MPH for work speed. Grade: Same as last one 5% on pavement Tire: Same as last one again at 56 inch diameter. Please let me know or feel free to contact Dan if you have any questions. It’d be nice to have a proposal by early in the week next. Thanks, Boyd
