1 LEGO Vehicle Vehicle Basics and Terms

2 (For example: wheels, tank treads, propeller, etc.)
Transmission System A system or way of transmitting power or energy from the motor/power source to the driving device: or what ever is in contact with the road/playing surface. (For example: wheels, tank treads, propeller, etc.)

3 Transmission A vehicle's transmission is the machinery that brings the power produced by the engine to the wheels. Automatic transmission: enables a vehicle to change gears without being controlled by the driver. If a car has a manual transmission, the gears are changed by the driver.

7 Types of Transmission systems that you can construct
Direct Drive Belt with Pulley Chain with Gear Gear to Gear Worm Gear Right Angle Differential

8 Types of Transmission systems that you can construct
Direct Drive

9 Wheel Direct Drive Motor Axle Extender

10 Types of Transmission systems that you can construct
Direct Drive Belt with Pulley

11 Belt and Pulley parts in your kit

12 Belt Drive Transmission (Belt and Pulley)

13 Belt and Pulley

14 Belt and Pulley and more

15 Types of Transmission systems that you can construct
Direct Drive Belt with Pulley Chain with Gear

16 These are chain links in your kit
The kit says 24 chain links but I give your 48!

17 Chain with Gear

18 Simple Chain Drive Inside there are right angle gears to change the direction of rotation

19 Types of Transmission systems that you can construct
Direct Drive Belt with Pulley Chain with Gear Gear to Gear

20 Gear to Gear Gears parts in your kit
40 tooth Gear 24 tooth Gear 16 tooth Gear Bevel Gear 8 tooth Gear tooth Crown Gear Right Angle Gear Worm Gear

22 Gear to Gear

23 Types of Transmission systems that you can construct
Direct Drive Belt with Pulley Chain with Gear Gear to Gear Worm Gear

24 Worm Gear Gear Box Worm Gear inside gear box

25 Worm Gear inside gear box on a car

26 Types of Transmission systems that you can construct
Direct Drive Belt with Pulley Chain with Gear Gear to Gear Worm Gear Right Angle

27 Right Angle Gears are also known as Crown Gears you have 2 in your kit
Right angle gears change the direction of rotation

28 Right Angle Gears Right angle gears change the direction of rotation

29 Right Angle Gears

30 Types of Transmission systems that you can construct
Direct Drive Belt with Pulley Chain with Gear Gear to Gear Worm Gear Right Angle Differential

31 Differential Gearing A differential will allow the wheels
This is not part of your kit inventory but I include it. A differential will allow the wheels to spin at different speeds or directions

32 Types of Drives that you can construct
Two Wheel Drive Four Wheel Drive Front Wheel Drive Rear Wheel Drive Direct Drive

33 Speed: Distance traveled within a specified time period Examples MPH
Miles /Per/Hour FPS Feet/Per/Second RPM Revolutions/Per/ Minute If I were a “Gary” the snail I might want your speed measured in Inches/Per/Hour

34 Torque Rotational force: the amount of power the driving device has when in contact with the road, track, etc.

35 A combination of speed and torque will work well for this project
