Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Diet-Base Therapy The Benefits of Juicing

Diet-Base Therapy The Benefits of Juicing “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” ― Hippocrates People eat food, not nutrients. When we rummage through the refrigerator for a snack or cruise the supermarket aisles trying to decide what to fix for dinner, our choices are much more likely to reflect cultural, social, and family patterns than based on the federal government’s food pyramid and recommended daily allowances (RDA) (Micozzi, 2009, p. 355).

Diet-Base Therapy The Benefits of Juicing Your Diet is Your Therapy  “The American Diet is lousy, and Americans are dying because of it.” - National Cancer Institute  “Better than one million Americans die every year because of faulty food intake.” - C. Everett Coop Former Surgeon General  To revitalize the chemistry of your body, you must consume vitally perfect food. Cooking and chemical interference change the natural properties of food.  The use of heat above body temperature destroys food values.

Diet-Base Therapy The Benefits of Juicing  When we consider that vegetables and fruits have been naturally cooked by solar energy and that they contain all of the elements the sun and earth have buried deep into their fiber cells; that they are live cell foods.  If we extract the juices from the cells of these fresh fruits and vegetables, and put their health-giving fluids into our blood, we will receive its vital energy.  This is possible through the electric juice machine.  We are able to take the coarsest fruits and vegetables, put it in the hopper of the machine and press out, almost instantly, the juice of the plant, with all of its life and energy, no matter how tough and dry the vegetable may seem.

Diet-Base Therapy The Benefits of Juicing Three Categories of Juices – Green Juices, Vegetables, Fruit Juices I. Green Juices or “Fresh Drinks” Green Juices cleanse the body of pollutants and have a rejuvenating effect. Made from a variety of green vegetables, green juices are rich in chlorophyll, which helps to purify the blood, build red blood cells, detoxify and heal the body, and provide the body with fast energy. Green juices can be make with: a.Alfalfa sprouts b.Cabbage c.Kale d.Dandelion Greens e.Spinach f.Wheat grass and others. II. Vegetable Juices Fresh vegetable juices are restorers and builders. They boost the immune system, remove acid wastes and balance the metabolism. They also aid in the control of obesity by removing excess body fat. Among the most healthful and delicious of the vegetable juices are beet, carrot, celery, cucumber, and potato juice. III. Fruit Juices Fruit Juices help cleanse the body and nourish it with important nutrients including cancer-fighting antioxidants. Although any fruit can be juiced, certain juices are particularly healthful and delicious. One favorite cleansing juice is watermelon. To make this refreshing drink, place a whole piece of watermelon with the rind in tact in the juicer.
