Table of contents Basic Picking your pet 6 essential parts about the rabbit Breeds What they eat Rabbit grooming Glossary

Basics Humans have kept rabbits as pets for many years. Bucks, Does, even baby rabbits. A rabbits legs are so strong they can hop up to 20 miles per hour. Rabbits can live indoors and outdoors. Pet rabbits have to come out of her/his cage (hutch) for 20 – 30 minutes every day. Rabbits born in the summer get bigger ears than rabbits born in the winter.

Picking your pet Get a rabbit from a breeder, animal shelter or a pet store, but don’t forget before bringing the fuzzy critter home to make sure no family members have allergies to them. If you have little kids in your family you should bring a medium -large rabbit home.

Picking your pet These rabbits are good for little people.

6 Essential Parts About The Rabbit A rabbit will twitch its nose times per minute. Its eyes see side, above, and behind. Did you know that rabbits only have fur for protection!?!? Rabbits have long hind legs and short front legs. When running hind legs touch the ground before front legs. A rabbit may have 3-5 litters between March and September.

Breeds Did you know there are more than 25 species in the world!?!?!?!? Here are 5. Snowshoe, arctic hare, pygmy, lion head, and dwarf. Snowshoe rabbits usually live alone underground. Arctic hares have a 2 layered coat. Pygmy rabbit lives in Sothern United States. Lion head rabbits have a mane around his head. Dwarf rabbit is one of the top 10 smallest rabbits.

What They Eat Rabbits mostly only eat plants. Pellets can be a very important part of a rabbits diet. In northern winter rabbits eat twigs, buds, and bark of certain trees. Hay is good to feed rabbits, too. Give your rabbit water (mostly fresh) or it will get VERY SICK and trust me no one wants that!

Rabbit grooming A rabbit can be given a bath like a cat or a dog. Grooming keeps rabbits looking their best and feeling their best, but it can also be harmful. Rabbits like being combed or brushed. If you have a long haired rabbit, you should brush it every day.
