Where is your county, and what is the terrain like? Oneida county The county in red is Oneida County. It is located in central NY.

What lakes are in your county? Oneida lake is one of the major habitats in Oneida county. “Oneida Lake, situated in the center of New York State, was created over 12,000 years ago when the Ice Age ended, was originally a vast inland sea called Lake Iroquois covering much of Central New York. As the ice retreated, most of the lake drained away except for what remains now. Measuring 22 miles long and 5 miles at the widest point, Oneida Lake is a recreational paradise.”

What lakes are in your county? This is Oneida marina. Many fish and other water animals live here including birds. Their habitat is in danger of displacement or destruction. Any kind of human activity should be considerate of biodiversity issues.

 What is a climate smart community?  A climate Smart community is when a community comes together to make the world better.  Are there any climate smart communities in your county? CLIMATE SMART COMMUNITIES

The Village of Boonville, located in Oneida County, is a member of the Climate Smart Community.

Sources of Energy in Oneida County This shows the percentage of the different types of energy. Oneida county is considered part of NPCC Upstate NY. The least type of energy used to produce electricity is oil. The most type of energy used is nuclear.

Waste Facilities in Oneida County There are many waste facilities in Oneida county. These facilities include: residential convenient stations, regional landfill, recycling center, compost site, household hazardous waste, transfer stations, and stump disposal site. A Fun Fact about my County is…  There is only one renewable energy facility in this county.
