Ford Model-T & The Assembly line Henry Ford Ford Model-T & The Assembly line

Ford Model-T In 1908, Henry Ford built a car called the Ford Model-T. It was slow, ugly and difficult to drive. It was nicknamed “Tin Lizzie”.

The Ford Model-T The first (1st) Ford model-T car cost $1200. In 1928, the price of the car went down to $295. By 1929 Ford built more than one car per minute.

Mass Production Advantages Disadvantages Sell the cars at a low price Standardize the car: 1 colour and 1 engine size available Disadvantages Need fewer skilled workers Cut the cost of salary

In 1913, Ford invented the Assembly Line to speed up production. Mass Production In 1913, Ford invented the Assembly Line to speed up production.

How would this have helped to cut production costs? Key Quote – Henry Ford «A customer can have any colour he likes for his car as long as it's black.» How would this have helped to cut production costs?

Assembly Lines A car frame is put on a conveyer belt and each person puts one piece on every car that comes down the line.

The Cycle of Prosperity! Car Industry Mass productions & Standardization lead to increased car sales. More jobs are created in other industries. More Standardized parts are needed The Cycle of Prosperity! More people with jobs means that they can afford to buy a car! Jobs in Diners, Motels & Gas Stations.
