Challenges To ensure level playing field a common syllabus was proposed for all the examinations. To ensure reservation of seats as applicable the centre & states be taken care of. MCI also intends to conduct licentiate examination after internship completion to qualify for Indian Medical Graduate (IMG) status.

Eligibility criteria For MBBS: passed 12 th examination securing minimum 50% aggregate of PCB (40% for reserved categories) from a recognized board after admission. For PG medical entrance : passed final MBBS+ Common Exit & has completed internship. Note: The students who are likely to complete internship by March 31 are also eligible to apply but should complete internship before admission.

NEET: Counseling States will issue notification regarding seats, reservations and counseling dates which will be mentioned in Prospectus/ application forms. Reservations taken care of: NEET will not infringe the right of the State Govt. in administering the Rule of Reservation of any state. 85% of the seats of medical colleges under State administration would continue to be filled with the Rules/ Reservations etc. operated in that state. The only difference will be the merit list of all students of that state will be provided by NEET. On contrary NEET would require Central & State co-ordination with State Reservation policy unchanged.
