ACRONYM: MATILDA PROJECT NAME: MultinATIonal moduLe on Damage Assessment and countermeasures FRAMEWORK: CALL FOR PROPOSALS 2014 FOR PREVENTION AND PREPAREDNESS PROJECTS IN CIVIL PROTECTION AND MARINE POLLUTION. PREPAREDNESS PRIORITIES: ACTION 2 STARTING DATE: 1 JANUARY 2015 DURATION: 24 MONTHS THE PROJECT

The Matilda project is focused on the design and implementation of a multinational macro-module for post- earthquake building safety assessment and countermeasures in international emergencies. The macro-module is based on the experience developed within the DrHouse project, funded by the European Commission under the "Preparatory Action on an EU Rapid Response Capability". Main result of DrHouse project was the design, implementation, training and exercising of the Build- Safe macro-module. While Build-Safe entirely consists of Italian resources (Civil Protection Department, Eucentre, Fire Department, Italian Regions), Matilda project is intended to provide the multinational dimension to the macro-module. a.Support ERRC and meet specific EUCP needs through the implementation of a dedicated multinational macro module on seismic safety assessment and short term countermeasures; b.Contribution to the EU strategies: the macro-module will be registered in CECIS as additional resource; c.Enhancement of the cross-border cooperation and exchange of best practices among MS in the field of disaster preparedness; d.Increase of awareness and skills of civil protection professionals: about 100 experts will be trained on module technical activities and to face international emergencies; e.Development of Standard Operating Procedures for the multinational module; f.Development of specific information sheet for the requesting countries. Future actions mainly refer to: the maintenance and standby arrangements for personnel, since the capability will be already implemented in terms of equipment and technology; Additional training courses will be run in the future in order to always have the availability of highly trained human resources; Registration in Cecis database Follow up of the project FOLLOW UP
