Explore Landforms with Simba

Help Simba explore the pride lands, and learn about the different landforms he is seeing.

Pick a Type of Landform

Mountain They have steep, sloping sides. The highest point is called a peak or summit. A mountain range is a series of mountains. They form when the plates on the Earth smash together. Click on Timon to move on.

Valley Land that takes the shape of a “U” or “V.” Surrounded by mountains and hills. Formed millions of years ago by glaciers. Click on Timon to move on.

Hill Looks like a little bump in the Earth. Easier to climb than mountains. Formed by erosion, which is when rock and soil get washed away and put in a new place. Click on Timon to move on.

Peninsula Land surrounded by water on three sides. Florida is an example of this. Can be both big and small. Found on every continent. Click on Timon to move on.

Island Land that is not connected by any other land. Formed from larger pieces of land that broke off during earthquakes or from volcanos. Click on Timon to move on.

Plateau Raised flat surfaces. Surrounded by steep slopes. Formed by volcanic or erosion processes. Click on Timon to move on.

Plain Very flat land. Lowlands at the bottom of valleys or plateaus. Click on Timon to move on.
