 Usually starts during the early teens and early twenties with a mean age of seventeen years old  Reported mostly among young, white middle to upper class females in modern industrialize countries  Idea women models and mass media of the ideal body type (thinness) plays a major role in anorexia nervosa

 5 to 20 % of anorexics die  Approximately 2.5 % of college students are anorexic  90 to 95% females are more likely than males to become anorexic

 Sarah is 38 years old (the third child out of 4 and the oldest girl)  Anorexic for four years (senior in high school- junior in college  Sarah and her siblings were encourage to pursue physical activity.
