8 Thursday 28 th March 2013 Plans for the day of departure  Arrive at school normal time ready to travel (not in uniform)  Bring luggage to gym to drop off before registration  Go to lessons 1, 2 & 3 as normal.  At start of lunch come to Gym  Plans at moment are to depart at 1pm

Luggage Hand luggage – small bag  Small amount of English money for service stations  Snacks for the journey  Small pillow if want one for comfort  Music device & headphones (no loud speakers) if want Please keep hand luggage to a minimum as the coach soon fills up with 49 people. Main Luggage – medium holdall  Each person is allocated space for a medium holdall. Please stick to this.  Please be ruthless with your packing. Can you plan to share some things with friends – Hair dryers  etc...  If you are bringing your own equipment drivers will fill coach with bags first only if room will they then take ski equipment.  Coach company recommends holdalls. They can be packed easier than large suitcases. 9

10 What to do today  PowerPoint handout information.  Tordoffs ski information (if not already got it).  Insurance summary  Letter for recreation sessions Xscape if interested  Copy of slope rules

Pupils to hand in before we travel (by wed 27 th )  Own Passport  NHS EHIC card  Spending money Maximum £70 in Euros ( placed in a clearly labelled bag). 11

12 Trip layout  Depart 1PM - Coach down to Dover (same bus all trip).  Ferry around 8pm (will be confirmed).  Overnight coach through France, Germany, Austria & Italy.  Arrival at hotel in Val di fiemme in afternoon of 29 th March.  We will check into hotel (rooms will be organised 1-2 weeks before we depart).  After check in we will organise ski/snowboard equipment at hotel

13 Trip layout cont… When on coach  Must have seat belts on throughout journey  Will be toilet on bus but encouraged to wait till services  Can bring phones, dvd players, games consoles etc.. – at their own personal risk.  NO chewing gum on coach.  Rubbish bags provided.  Must stay in seats at when traveling.

14 Trip layout cont… Food vouchers 6 for mountain cafes at lunch time Ski pass 6 days magnetic pass (expensive if lost so must be looked after)

Ski trip Feb Trip layout cont… Free Evening Entertainments 1 st night in hotel - Quiz Pizza night Shopping & ice cream evening Group Disco Ski presentation evening Hotel Corona – Only school trip in hotel - Can not be in opposite sex rooms – need to mix in social area. - will need normal casual clothes for around hotel.

16

17 Trip layout cont…  No pupils allowed cigarettes or alcohol  If caught with any then sanctions will follow  Random Room checks by staff if necessary  IBT policy – if pupils are problems – can organise flights home at parents expense. Never had to be done by our school but need to make you aware.

18 On the mountain  Pupils will get bus to ski lift every morning dressed and ready to ski.  We will drive to ski lifts and then put ski/board boots on.  We take the ski lift up the mountain all together.  Wait with staff in groups until instructors collect students.  With instructors for 5 hours (4 hours ski – 1 hour lunch).  Staff usually ski with groups.  Instructors bring back to ski lift – when all present, we take lift back down the mountain and take equipment back to coach.  Time of year can be unpredictable. Some days warm with bright sunshine. Others cold, foggy and snowing! We will try to advise as best as we can.

19 Ski groups  Groups will be depending on pupils ability.  I would recommend pupils learning the basics prior to the trip as pupils will get to see more of mountain and get a lot more out of trip.  Lessons can be booked with Xscape (Chris Haddleton)

Ski trip Feb Ski clothing and equipment  Ski and snowboard equipment is allocated on arrival at hotel (snowboards, Boots, ski’s & helmet)  All other equipment will need to be taken. Jackets, trousers gloves etc... Crossley Tordoffs Jubilee way Pontefract Tel – Other accessories can also be bought at Tordoffs with a 10% discount when mentioning Crofton High School

Safety  Helmets are included in the price of the tour.  We have included helmets as part of our school risk assessment.  Please reinforce the need to wear them securely when on the mountain.  I would also recommend wrist guards for snowboarders.  Need to follow instructors requests and slope rules to avoid accidents. 21

Ski trip Hoody  If your son or daughter would like a ski trip hoody they are 12.  Hoody’s can not be worn in school afterwards.  Please let me know sizes and payment by Friday the 1 st March to order them.  I have some sample sizes to try on. Come and see me in PE office at breaks and lunchtimes.

Finally To prepare for the trip I would like to collect in passports, EHIC medical cards and spending money before we leave. Please could you send them into school in an envelope with your child's name on it by the end of school on Wednesday 27 th March.
