Chapter - 10 Principles of management

Principles of management originate and grow as a result of past experiences and study

Principles of management Management principles are derived from the following methods; A) Observation method B) experimental method

Observation method It is through observation just like science. Managers are observing and analyze certain events and on the basis they formulate the principles.

Experimental method Researchers research about the topic on the basis of studies they develop on certain principles and test their validity.

Nature of principles of management Universality –it has universal validity. It can apply in different types of organisations.

Nature of principles of management Dynamism- it is not rigid,but flexible. It can be modified to suit for different situation ( changes in the business environment)

Nature of principles of management Influencing human behavior- Management is a social science. It deal with human behavior. HUMAN BEHAVIOUR IS COMPLEX AND CANNOT BE TESTED UNDER LABORATORY. Management studying human behavior and applied for the best possible result.

Nature of principles of management Flexibility – it is not static. it is relative It can be applied on the nature of organisation

Cause and effect relationship Principles are utilized for solving various management related problems.

Equal importance All principles of management are equally important.

Need for principles of management To increase efficiency ; Principles of management have been developed from experiences of various experts. It provide necessary guideline to the managers
