Moles and Mass -The molar mass of a compound (aka molecular mass or molecular weight) is the sum of the atomic masses of each atom in the compound -Molar.
EMPIRICAL FORMULA The empirical formula represents the smallest ratio of atoms present in a compound. The molecular formula gives the total number of atoms.
DENSITY Density is defined as mass per unit volume. It is a measure of how tightly packed and how heavy the molecules or atoms are in an object. NOTES.

Presentation transcript:

Station 1 Measure the mass of zinc contained in your sample. Use dimensional analysis to calculate the number of atoms in this sample.

Station 2 Measure the mass iron and copper in each sample provided. Calculate the number of moles for each and determine which sample contains more moles.

Station 3 Cut a perfect 15 cm x 15 cm square of heavy duty and regular aluminum foil. Measure the mass of each piece of aluminum. Calculate the number of atoms contained in each to determine if heavy duty aluminum foil really contains more aluminum than regular aluminum foil.
