 The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland consists of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

 The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the world. It has a lot of interesting places to see.

Edinburgh Castle is the main place of interest in the city. It is very famous.

 Holyroodhouse Palace is the place where the Queen lives when she comes to Scotland. The palace is closed when the Queen is in Edinburgh.

 The Royal Museum is interesting with its Science Zone.

 There are excellent clothes shops in Princess Street and George Street. Princess Street George Street

 There are souvenir shops in The Royal Mile.  There are also two big shopping centres.

 There are two football teams in Edinburgh, Hearts and Hibs, but they aren’t world- famous.

 There are sport centres with good swimming pools.

There is the famous ‘Edinburgh Festival’, the cultural event of the year. In August, Edinburgh is one big party with great music, theatre and films!
