Certified Nursing Assistant Certified Nurse’s Aide Patient Care Assistant State Testing Nursing Assistant C.N.A. Certified Nursing Assistant

Works under the supervision of a nurse Aid the patient in personal care and performing basic day-to-day tasks Extensive daily contact with each patient, report vital information regarding the patient’s current condition What is a CNA?

Taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse) Phlebotomy (depending on state) Aid in mobility of patients (walking, range of motion exercises) Documentation Reporting all changes to nurse Safety awareness Catheter care What can a CNA do?

16 years of age or older Program taught in English Completion of Registration Forms Pass Personal Interview Phlebotomy: High School Diploma Time Commitment – 100 instructional hours, 55 clinical hours Tuition: $2,000 + $108 for examination Pass Final Exam + State Exam Requirements Training Direct – Bridgeport, CT

In order to take test, student must complete: 100 instructional hours 55 clinical hours 45 classroom hours Certification Process Classroom + Clinical

Upon completion of coursework + clinical hours, student will have a “graduation” with the school’s exam. If pass school exam, state examination will occur : testing both written and clinical Certification Process Exam

Every two years: proof of a minimum of 8 hours paid-clinical work experience If proof not submitted, state exam will need to be retaken Certification Renewal

Basic knowledge of medical precursors Gain experience in medical field Operated as an effective member of a medical team Built interpersonal connections with patients How is this certification beneficial for the future?
