* The prisoners were given little food and they were to die from starvation, exhaustion, and exposure * In some camps, the Nazi doctors did experiments on the prisoners * In the camps, there was a hierarchical identification system which was based on the nationality and why you were imprisoned * Severe cruelty which led to unofficial killings were reported as suicides, accidental deaths, people that where trying to escape, or people that were trying to revolt, and they were even reported as illnesses.

* There were many different reasons for imprisonment which included: * Prisoners didn’t even have to be charged for a specific act to be imprisoned * After having being found not guilty for a specific crime * Someone who was released from jail after serving their punishment * Or someone from a specific race was a “danger” to German society

* The Auschwitz camp was the largest camp and there were 3 different main camps * Auschwitz 1 was built for 3 main purposes: * to eliminate enemies of the Nazis * To have laborers for construction * To have a location to wipe out groups targeted by the Nazis * In the camps there were doctors that did experiments in the prisoners
