By Eli Simpson and Jennifer Guilbeaux

Mohawk, Delaware, Erie, Huron, Miami, and Wampanoag were some Iroquois tribes.

Since the Iroquois have so much land they had all sorts of weather, dry, hot, wet, rainy, cold, even snowy. The resources helped the Iroquois live there. The areas they live in today are New York, Adirondack, and Niagara Falls. They lived in longhouses which had elm bark for the covering. The land affected their lives by helping them live.

The shelter was long, and had every resource they need like the elm bark was used for the covering, they also had pole to keep it up, there is even drying racks for the corn, this is called the longhouse. The longhouse can hold up to 12 families, and can be 150 feet long. They got water from banks, and rivers. The Iroquois got food from the forest by killing animals, and growing crops.

 The Iroquois have been living in New York for over 4,000 years.  They had their own constitution.  Agriculture was the main source of food in the Iroquois.  The Iroquois were the biggest threat to the Europeans.  The Massachusetts Mohawk trail was used for trading and traveling.

The Iroquois are thinking about the present and the Europeans are thinking about the future. The Iroquois don’t care about time while the Europeans do. Finally the Iroquois give things away, while the Europeans save everything.

We learned that the Iroquois lived for 4,000 years. There were about 20,000 Indians per tribe. Also the Iroquois were one of the most important tribes. Finally we wanted to know the exact number of Iroquois.
