Wind is the uneven heating of the earth’s surface caused by the sun. What is wind?

Today we use a lot of energy. Now you ask yourself, what makes energy? Energy comes from different energy sources, one of them is wind. Wind energy is primarily used today to generate electricity. How is wind energy used today?

The top wind producing states in the U.S. are California, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. Which states are the top wind producing states in the U.S?

Two types of wind machines are horizontal-axis and vertical-axis. Vertical Horizontal What are two types of wind machines?

The worlds largest wind farm is located in Texas. Where is the worlds largest wind farm located?

People might say windmill when they hear the word wind turbine. They both mean the same thing. So another word for wind turbine is windmill. What is another name for a wind turbine?

The percentage of U.S. electricity generated by wind power is 3%. What percentage of the U.S. electricity is made by wind power?

A daily wind cycle is when cool air moves in over the water. Then the land heats up faster than water. Finally the warm air rises over the land. What is a daily wind cycle?

Good sites for wind farms are : The tops of smooth rounded hills, open plains or shorelines, and mountain gaps that produce wind funneling. Good sites for wind farms?

We ranked first compared to the other countries. What is the U.S. ranking for wind power compared to other countries?

The advantages of wind power are that it does not pollute the air or water, reduces the amount of air pollution, carbon dioxide emissions, and water use of fossil fuel power plants. The disadvantages of wind power are that some catch on fire, leak fluids, make loud sounds, don’t like the landscape full of windmills, and they also cause birds and bats to die. What are the advantages and disadvantages of wind power?

Wind: A renewable source of energy used to turn turbine to generate electricity. Energy: The ability to do work and the ability to move an object. Wind machine: Devices powered by the wind that produce mechanical or electrical power. Wind tower: Devices, some as tall as 120ft, which lift wind turbine blades high above the ground to catch wind currents. Green pricing: Green pricing programs allow electricity customers to express the willingness to pay for renewable energy development through direct payments on their monthly utility bills. Vocabulary

If you want to learn more about wind turbines, take a trip to a wind farm in Hull, Massachusetts. If you don’t have the money, you can go to Energy Kids website. You can find much more information here!!! More about wind turbines
