2 Goddard’s Office of Human Capital Management (OHCM) supports employees and supervisors in developing an Individual Development Plan (IDP). The key to successful IDP planning is developing and committing to manageable and measurable goals to build employee competencies and skills. The IDP coincides with the performance management appraisal period, although it is not a factor in the performance review. Individual Development Plan (IDP)

3 What Is an Individual Development Plan (IDP)? An IDP is a collection of goals, objectives, and activities for a specific employee. It is developed collaboratively between the employee and the supervisor. The IDP reflects the development needs for the employee’s current position and future development needs. It identifies training and other developmental experiences needed to achieve both personal and Agency goals within a specific timeframe. The IDP is a great tool for developmental conversations with employees during the performance planning discussion.
