Mountains, Desserts and Rainforests By Ben Carr

What are mountains? Mountains are large formations from when the earth was created. The difference between a mountain and an everyday hill is that mountains are generally much steeper and don’t have a top.

What are Deserts? A desert is a place sometimes without life and it is either very hot, or very cold. They also have no water. Deserts are located all over the world in various places.

What are Rainforests? Rainforests are like the opposite of deserts. They are very wet, and have many different types of flora and fauna. They are full of life, and sometimes also a tourist attraction.

Where are Mountains located? This map clearly explains where mountains are located in the world, with the yellow meaning where mountains are, and the green representing the rest of the world.

Where are Deserts located? Here is a map of where deserts are located in the world, with the yellow representing the desserts, and the brown representing the rest of the earth.

Where are rainforests located? This is a map of the world showing where all the rainforests are. The black shows the forests and the grey shows the rest of the world.

Interesting Fact About Mountains The biggest mountain in the world is called “Mount Everest” and is 8,848 metres above sea level.

Interesting Fact About Deserts Strangely, Antarctica is the largest and driest place in the world. The largest non-polar desert in the world is in Africa, and is roughly 3.5 square million miles. It’s called the Sahara Desert.

Interesting Fact about Rainforests The largest rainforest in the world is the Amazon rainforest, and it is located in South Africa.
