2 Land and Water The Earth is mostly water
¾ of the Earth is covered in water The big bodies of water on Earth are called oceans The big pieces of land on Earth are called continents

3 The Oceans The Pacific Ocean stretches 64,186,000 square miles and has an average depth of 15,215 feet. The Atlantic Ocean stretches 33,420,000 square miles and has an average depth of 12,881 feet.

4 The Oceans The Indian Ocean stretches 28,350,000 square miles and has an average depth of 13,002 feet. The Arctic Ocean stretches 5,106,000 square miles and has an average depth of 3,953 feet.

6 North America North America is made up of four countries: Canada, The United States, Mexico, and Greenland. North America is cold in the north and warm in the south Buffalo live in North America

7 South America South America is made up of twelve countries.
People there speak mostly Spanish The biggest country is Brazil The Amazon rainforest is in South America

8 Europe Europe is made up of 48 countries.
People there speak over 50 languages. The weather is similar to North America – cold in the north and warm in the south Europe is home to The Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, and The Coliseum.

9 Asia Asia is the biggest continent and it has the most people.
It is made up of numerous countries, the largest of which include Russia, China, and India. China is the biggest country in Asia Giant Pandas live in China and eat bamboo It is home of the Great Wall of China

10 Africa Africa is made up of fifty-three countries.
Africa is a very hot continent because the equator runs through the middle of it. Lions live in Africa. Most people in Africa have dark skin and hair. The Egyptian pyramids are in Africa.

11 Australia Australia is an island continent that includes the mainland of Australia, Tasmania, and many of the islands throughout the Pacific Ocean. The weather in Australia is the opposite of our weather Native people in Australia are called Aborigines Kangaroos, koalas, and The Great Barrier Reef can all be found in Australia

12 Antarctica Antarctica is made of five regions and one island Chain.
Antarctica is the coldest continent No people live in Antarctica, but some scientists visit to study the weather or animals there Many kinds of penguins live in Antarctica
