Information retention  When teaching, people tend to explain a lot.  Here are some facts:  People retain 20% of what they hear.  People retain 50% of what they see and read.  People retain 90% of what they say and do.

Visual learners (source: Canada gymnastics)  Often more successful when you demonstrate an exercise rather than explain it.  Notice details.  Rarely talk in class.  Can only use a few words when responding to questions.

Auditory learners (source: Gymnastics Canada)  Easily understand verbal instructions.  Remember words or ideas rather well.  Love music and rhythmic activities.  Will store exercises by associating them with music.  Often speak easily and are rarely quiet.  Often have a poor perception of time and space.

Kinesthetic learners (source: Gymnastics Canada)  Learn best by performing exercises and exploring movement  Often move a lot and are often considered hyperactive  Seem to need to touch everything  Usually have good coordination  Use objects as learning tools, especially those that can be handled easily
