Right and Wrong Ways to share your Faith!

1. Boldness or Confrontation! Sharing your Faith

The Boldness of PETER Acts 4:13 (NKJV) – “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marvelled. And they realised that they had been with Jesus”. We should never let fear stop us from talking about our faith. None of us should be ashamed of what God has done for us (Romans 1:16) Neither should we be rude and confrontational! Sharing your Faith

2. Informative or Know it all? Sharing your Faith

The intellectual style of PAUL Paul was very educated, extremely intelligent and able to present irrefutable arguments. In Athens he ingeniously used the altar of the unknown god as a way to present the Gospel (Acts 17:22-23). In Caesarea he speaks powerfully before the great & noble (Acts 26). People admire intelligence but cannot tolerate “know it all’s!” Sharing your Faith

3. Testifying or Self Indulgent? Sharing your Faith

The testifying style of the BLIND MAN John 9:25 (NKJV) “He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.” Here we see the testifying style of the blind man. This type of sharing does not proclaim or explain but simply tells the story of what God has done. When testifying we should aim to draw attention to God and what he has done and not to ourselves and our achievements or misdemeanours! Sharing your Faith

4. Telling or Monopolising? Sharing your Faith

The telling style of the GADARENE Luke 8:39 (NKJV) “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him. After the Gadarene was set free he implored Jesus to let him follow Him, but the Lord commanded him to go home and tell his family. He tells the whole city the great things Jesus had done. We can tell without ‘monopolising’! Sharing your Faith

5. Relating or Compromising? Sharing your Faith

The relational style of MATTHEW After Matthew became a disciple of Jesus he resolved to attract his friends. He organised a dinner party and invited his fellow tax collectors in order to introduce them to Jesus. Matthew 9:10 – “Many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.” There are many ways we can relate to people without compromising what we believe. Sharing your Faith

6. Inviting or Pressurising? Sharing your Faith

The inviting style of the SAMARITAN WOMAN After her encounter with the Lord, she went back to her own town and invited everyone to come and meet Jesus. John 4:29 - “Come and see a man, which told me everything I did: is this not the Christ? Everyone remembers the bad experiences with the pressurising salesman! Sharing your Faith

7. Caring or Ignoring? Sharing your Faith

The caring style of DORCAS Dorcas was a practical carer. She made clothes for the poor and distributed them in the name of Jesus. She connected with peoples’ physical and spiritual needs (Acts 9:36-39). A cake or a bunch of flowers as well as many other things can show that you care. ‘People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care’ Sharing your Faith

May we will take every opportunity this Christmas season to share the good news in as many ways as we can! Sharing your Faith
