7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

John 4:1-26 (NIV) “Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptising more disciples than John although in fact it was not Jesus who baptised, but his disciples. So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee. Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” “I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

“Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

The woman said, “I know that the Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.” 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

1. Make contact with people "outside" the church (John 4:1-6) Jesus was called the friend of sinners. (Luke 5: 27-32). We must not confuse separation from the world with isolation from the world. 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

The prayer of the Lord was clear: “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one”. (John 17:15). 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

2. Establish a point of common interest (John 4:7) If we were Jesus, we might have said, "Do you know who I am?" But Jesus did not do this until he found a point of contact that enabled a conversation with the woman. The point of contact was something that she was interested in because she always went to draw water from that well. 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

Remember, people like to talk about themselves. Discover their interests. Use what the other person is doing at the beginning of the conversation. There is nothing as attractive as a compliment. 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

3. Awaken an interest The Lord awoke an interest in the woman because he was genuinely interested in her. The woman was surprised at Jesus' attitude towards her and that caught her attention. Our life even before we speak can attract people to God. 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

– Share Your Story (Testimony). – The strategy of the devil is to convince us that we cannot give a testimony until we are as spiritual as Angel Gabriel! 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

4. Don't try to tell them all the Bible doctrine (John 4.13-15) Stick to something that is important and necessary for the person at that moment. Many believers allow themselves to be drawn into questions about clothing, tithes, church names, etc. It is best to present Jesus according to the person's need. Jesus is the answer to all our needs! 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

5. Don't condemn (John 4:16-18) There are many ways to condemn people. It could be through an attitude of rejecting an invitation that somebody extends to us to have a beer or through a moralistic comment. The Lord, however, never condemned anyone; He always had a word of forgiveness and acceptance for all sinners. 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

6. Point them to the central point (John 4:19-20) The woman wanted to know where was the correct place to worship God, but Jesus did not reply to her question. He pointed her to the central point and then revealed himself to her as the Messiah. 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!

7. Explain that there is a decision to be made (John 4:20-26) There is no ‘sitting on the fence’ May the Lord make every one of us effective in sharing the most important news that this world has ever known! 7 Steps To Effectively Sharing the Good News!
