Joshua 10:7-14 Review vs.12-13 “On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon. So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies…” We serve a God who is not intimidated by our “long shot” requests, but is insulted when we don’t ask Him to do things worthy of His true nature

Joshua 10:7-14 Review If you have an impossible need in your life, then that’s just the right size for God Ephesians 3:20a “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…”

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life Just when it looks like things are about to turn around… the whole thing gets worse vs.23 ‘My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.’ A rude interruption

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life vs.35a While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. ‘Your daughter is dead’… This has gone from a bad situation to a dead situation vs.35b ‘Why bother the teacher anymore?’

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life The paradox of faith Mark 9:23b "Everything is possible for him who believes." ‘Why bother?’

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life vs.36a “Ignoring what they said” Selective hearing is one of your most effective allies in the fight of faith Tune out the doubt!

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life vs.36b “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” Jairus’ own servants are saying; “why bother…” Jesus is saying; “just believe” Follow Jesus back to the house

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life vs.37 “He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.” You cannot let everybody have a voice in your life Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” We need the right voice in our life

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life vs.38-39 When they came to the home of the synagogue ruler, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing?” Jesus doesn’t see the death, he sees an opportunity for a resurrection Your circumstance doesn’t have to be at 100% for your faith to be at 100%

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life Doubt is like a telemarketer The best strategy is to never answer the phone vs.40 “But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was.”

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life vs.41-43 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat. We don’t have to understand in order to believe

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life Don’t hold on to your feelings… hold on to your faith Joseph could have said… why bother Moses could have said… why bother Joshua could have said… why bother

Joshua 10:7-14 Mark 5:21-43 The “what if” and “what about” stuff of life Paul could have said… why bother Acts 20:24 “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” (NKJV) Jesus could have said… why bother Luke23:34 “Father forgive them for they know not what they do” (KJV)
