3 The football team chaplain has established a track record of POSITIVE IMPACT in players’ lives. Mr. Shelton delivered a prayer before every game in the 2008 season… but that’s just the “tip of the iceberg”.

10 If I donate once, will you ask me to donate again? Yes. We want to SUSTAIN this program year after year, and we will ask you to consider making your service a habit. We ask you to consider making a contribution to this important project once a year.

11 I am unable to support this program at the level you are asking. Can I still help? Yes. A donation in ANY AMOUNT helps support this project! Your service and support is more important than the amount. Our committee wants more “soldiers” than “officers” in support of this project. Every contributor shares equally in the benefits of the Team Chaplain Program.

12 Will this contribution be counted in my Hokie Club points? No. Your contribution in support of the football team chaplain program is made through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. All gifts to the FCA are “tax deductible” under charitable giving, but they cannot be counted toward your giving to Virginia Tech.

13 I already give a lot! Why doesn’t “somebody else” donate the money? The team chaplain project cannot be supported by University funds to respect each person’s freedom and right to choose a spiritual direction. Our committee fully supports this important organizational design. We ask that you consider becoming that “somebody else”, turning a great idea into a great action.

15 Why is this great program limited to the football team? Our committee agrees… it doesn’t have to be. The sky’s the limit! Our committee has a vision of extending the chaplain program to the other NCAA sports, including women’s sports. But we must establish a sustainable program first. Help us sustain, and then grow the program to the next step.
