Let’s Go Camping By Mrs. Malelega

Now that we have talked about some of the things that we would see or need when we are camping. Let’s see what those things would look like when we put them all together.

As you can see, You can go camping with lots of people. Some you may know and some you may meet when you set up your camping sight.

Of course there is also camping with just your own group. This can be just as fun. You can do your own thing, and you don’t have to worry about disturbing the other campers around you.

Now this is called an RV. It can be fun and it has a lot of extra things that can be fun inside, but is this really teaching you how to live out in the woods? And don’t forget…

You really are just parking your house in a parking lot with a lot of other campers. Not really roughing it is it?

One of the fun things you can do is to go exploring or hiking. Make sure you have good boots or shoes. You don’t want to get back to camp with sore feet. It is also a bit easier to walk the hills and mountains with a stick. That stick can come in handy if you should run into any of those creatures that live in the woods.

Do you think he always wakes up this grouchy?

One of the best parts of camping is a campfire.

Even in the rain, a good camper can keep the fire burning. This may be the only way to stay warm or to cook your food. But remember, an adult should always be the one to do this job.

Of course you could bring your own food and enjoy some yummy marshmallows or hotdogs around the campfire. Singing around the campfire can also be fun after your tummy is nice and full.

Picking a good campsite is important. You should always pick a sight with some water nearby.

If you don’t you will have to bring some water for drinking. These are called canteens and they are a good idea so that you know you will always have water that is handy.

Of course where there is water there is usually a chance for fish. If you remember to bring your fishing pole you may have some great meals.

Especially if you can catch a big one like this!

It is always a good idea to bring along a utility knife. This will come in handy for lots of things. Some of these even have a fork and spoon inside them. That makes it a lot easier to eat some fish.

Don’t forget to pick a good campsite. Pick one that has some flat land, water close by and a great view of the outdoors.

Even though you are going to be very excited and not want to go to sleep Don’t forget to bring something to sleep in. A sleeping bag is a must!

Especially on those really cold camping trips when you weren’t expecting it to snow.

Sometimes you just can’t talk your parents into going camping. You can always go camping right in your own home. Sometimes your imagination can be more fun than you think.

Most importantly, Don’t forget to appreciate how beautiful the land is. No matter where you go camping, just being outside and getting close to nature can be a special treat.

Using the words below. Click on the box next to those items that you would like to take camping with you. There is no wrong answer. You can click on the box again to remove the item if you change your mind. I just want you to become more familiar with making lists and hopefully this unit has given you some good ideas on what you might want or need when you go camping!
