RIJEKA – THE CITY ON WATER The city of Rijeka is the largest Croatian harbour, the third city by size in Croatia and an administrative center of the Primorsko – Goranska County. Rijeka, with population number of around , with cities and municipalities of the surrounding Rijeka area, has around inhabitants.

RIJEKA – GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION Located in the Kvarner bay, the City of Rijeka has an extremely well situated position, which is considered as a great comparative advantage and a main condition for marine economy development as well as all activities related with the vicinity of the sea.

 Water and Wastewater Ltd. is the property of the City of Rijeka and 8 surrounding cities and municipalities of the Rijeka area.  The Company employs 305 employees supplying around 1000 km of water supply system and around 400 km of wastewater system. Rječina spring For the necessity of the water supply system, 2 out of 7 springs are primarily used:  RJEČINA spring  ZVIR 1  ZVIR 2  MARTINŠĆICA  PERILO  Captive spring DOBRA  DOBRICA All springs mentioned are considered extremely sensitive areas (underground waters of category I). The mentioned springs meet the supply of drinking, sanitary, technological and fire water. Zvir 1 spring RIJEKA - SPRINGS

EXISTING AND PLANNED WASTEWATER SYSTEM In this moment, the water supply covers 99% of the population, while the wastewater system in Rijeka connects 65% of the population, while in the surrounding areas and municipalities the connection on the wastewater system is around 45%. Through investments presented in the following slides, the connection of 80% is planned. It is important to mention that the major part of the existing system is mixed collection system, where the sanitary and drainage wastewater are mixed. The construction of the new system implies the construction of a distribution wastewater system. The complexity of the existing mixed and new distribution system is important to consider during construction of the new wastewater treatment plant.

ADRIATIC PROJECT Completion of the Adriatic project is planned for March 2015, funded by the proceeds of the World Bank loan, which in 2006 in Grobinšćina, signified the start of construction of around 48 km of wastewater system, 11 PS and the possibility for connection of around 1700 new consumers.

EBRD In January 2015 with proceeds of the Loan of the EBRD begins the construction of around 26 km of sanitary wastewater system and around 13 km of water supply system (reconstruction/construction) with period of 18 months planned for works execution and the possibility for connection of around 800 new consumers.

EIB-CEB  In the same time, the construction of around 7 km of sanitary wastewater system and around 3 km of water supply system is due to start, project funded by the proceeds of the loan of the EIB/CEB, which creates the possibility for connection of around 200 new consumers.

AGGLOMERATION SYSTEMS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF WATER AND WASTEWATER Ltd.

RIJEKA AGGLOMERATION  Public wastewater system CITY – Rijeka agglomeration includes the city of Rijeka and city of Kastav, municipalities Jelenje, Viškovo, Čavle and part of municipality of Matulji, is also a project candidate for the strategic project of the Republic of Croatia.  For Rijeka agglomeration the Feasibility Study including the defined scope within the agglomeration and the wastewater treatment plant is in final stage. The ending of the FS is planned for April  The table presents an estimated planned scope of the project documentation by  The FS is supervised by JASPERS, a supervising authority contracted by the Republic of Croatia for EU project implementation supervision.  In the same time, the FS is supervised by the technical associates of Hrvatske Vode, a supervising authority between Water and Wastewater Ltd. and EU sources of funding.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT  The project documentation includes the construction of around 200 kilometers of sanitary sewer system, more than 100 pumping stations and construction of the II. degree wastewater treatment plant with capacity of PE, planned in the vicinity of the existing mechanical (pre)treatment WWTP with capacity of PE.

BAKAR – KOSTRENA AGGLOMERATION  The Feasibility study started in October 2013, and is planned for completion in April  Estimated value of study and project documentation is around EUR. KRALJEVICA AGGLOMERATION  Tender for study documentation issued in December  Estimated value of study and project documentation is around EUR.

PROJECT FINANCING Water and Wastewater Ltd. is the Investor in all of the presented projects, financing of which is enabled through proceeds of the mentioned sources of financing, and return of the proceeds is made from the proceeds of Hrvatske Vode, proceeds of Water and Wastewater Ltd, and the proceeds of the local governments through the charge for development of water projects.
