Type Letters are measured by their height in points. 12 points = 1 pica 6 picas = 1 inch Leading is the space between lines of type. Typefaces (fonts) are sets of letters, numbers, and symbols that have the same design. Typefaces usually include type styles such as bold and italic.

This type of small-scale publishing is often called desktop publishing. Newsletters are the most common products of desktop publishing.

Designing Pages for Newsletters Include white space on every page to avoid a cluttered look. Do not use too many graphics. Choose carefully when selecting photos and drawings. On 8 1/2" x 11" paper, use two columns. Print with black ink on colored paper to add color and save on expenses.
