SFWMD Web Status:  Increasing expectations - do more with less  Industrial strength data for the District and our partners  Inability to supply the demand for data and information  Enterprise-wide transformation in data and information delivery

Current Web Organization: u The Web (steering) Committee promotes, recommends and works through Web issues:  WebMaster/Project Manager - chair, spokes-person, system administrator, technical consultant  Web Developer - Server/Systems programming support  Visual Communications specialists - layout & design, publishing, maintenance  GateKeepers - dept publishers, representatives

WOBO - Transforming the Enterprise:  WOBO is an Enterprise-wide initiative  Web-enabling business processes goes beyond to scope of a grass roots effort  Executive Office must advocate this transformation - driven from top, down  Funding is required  Dedicated resources are required

How Do We Get There?  Obtain human and technological resources needed to move forward  Prove concept of Web-enabling Oracle applications  Establish application development methodology and standards for Web enabling applications  Enable and expand infrastructure to support electronic business processes and integration of systems  Communicate with our partners as to their data needs

How Do We Get There?  Develop strategy for prioritizing projects based on customer driven criteria  Continue to develop Web Project Plan  Train employees in Web technologies  Develop Web outsourcing standards  Establish performance measures for Web projects/products  Review/ re-engineer current processes to accommodate Web enabling business processes

Future Web Projects:  Electronic Workflow Processing (e-forms)  Web-enabling small, localized database applications (MS Access)  Management system Web surveys to assess Web needs  Performance monitoring and measuring  Re-engineer search engines  Web-based training  Implement Web discussion boards (WebBoard)

Resources Needed:  Centralized Web support unit (core team) to manage Web development from a “what’s best for the agency” perspective  Oversight of unit by Web Steering Committee and Web Sponsors  Fully dedicated department representatives (GateKeepers and DocMasters)  Decentralized resources for Web development and on-going maintenance within programs and departments
