Tour Stop 1: Outside The Building

Community Connectivity Encourages A Walkable Neighborhood At least 10 community services, and high density residential areas are within ½ mile.

Bus Stops Are Nearby To Encourage Public Transportation Route 11 & Route 69 are 2 locations where public busses pick up passengers, located within a 1/4 mile of the Dovetail Wind & Solar building

Encouraging Fuel-Efficient and Low- Emitting Vehicles Reduces Fossil Fuel Emissions 30% of the parking spots are reserved for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles

Bicycle Rack and Showers Encourage Reduced Car Usage There is a bike rack located in the parking lot

An Existing Building Was Reused Reducing New Resources Required For Construction Existing structural elements that have been reused include: Foundation Walls Wood Frame Roof Concrete Roof Deck Concrete Block Exterior Walls Basement Slab

No Smoking Within 25 Feet of Entrances To prevent exposure to environmental tobacco smoke, no smoking within 25 feet of doors and air intakes, keeps smoke and fossil fuel exhaust out of the office environment.

Heat Island Effect-Nonroof The site hardscape contains high reflective concrete materials.

Heat Island Effect-Roof High albedo materials cover a minimum of 75% of the roof area with an Solar Reflective Index value of 78

Tour Stop 2: 1st Floor; Conference Room Conference room has 2 lighting controls.

LED Lighting Reduce Electrical Light emitting diode (LED) bulbs are used throughout the office and use 1/10 th the wattage of standard bulbs.

Low VOC Paint Was Used Throughout The Building Low VOC paint helps keep the indoor air quality at a level which is safe and environmentally responsible.

Tour Stop 3: Inside The Office Stand in the middle of the room

Lavatory Faucet uses a low flow aerator for very low water usage The lavatory faucet uses.5 gpm, which is very low compared to the 2.2 gpm of conventional lavatory faucets

Shower has a low-flow shower head The shower uses 1.25 gpm; much less than the 2.2 gpm used by conventional shower heads

Water Efficient Landscaping The landscaping is designed and constructed to limit the use of potable water by 50%. Using native plants that are drought resistant allow for less water to be used during warm months

Minimum Energy Performance All LEED projects are required to show that there is a 5% increase in energy efficiency from the previous building.

Recycling Bins At Each Workstation Make It Easy To Recycle Recycling at Dovetail Solar & Wind is simple. Within the city of Cincinnati, curbside recycling for small businesses is handled twice a month, utilizing city provided rolling bins.

Fundamental Refrigerant Management All LEED projects are required to use CFC free refrigerants

Optimize Energy Performance The overall energy performance for Dovetail Solar & Wind will be an approximate 46% improvement compared to the existing building

On-Site Renewable Energy Solar electric shading panels over the southern windows provide some of the building’s electricity; providing clean, efficient energy to use.

Bath Tissue And Paper Towels Are Made Of 100% Recycled Paper They also don’t have added chemicals that are hard to remove from the waste stream and when they aren’t, they get concentrated in fish, mammals, and plant life.

Green Cleaning Guidelines Employees were trained to operate and maintain the office’s energy efficient systems and green cleaning policies.

A USGBC Leader in Energy And Environmental Design Was Responsible For The Project Chuck Lohre, LEED AP
