The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a non- profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas. It was founded in It began with only six giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. There have been 124 giant panda births, and the captive panda population had grown to 83. They also help other institutions that have giant pandas by providing technical support and sending experts who can assist with the care, breeding, and raising of the giant pands.

Most gorillas live in inaccessible regions in various dense forests in tropical Africa, and only in the last 30 years have scientists learned details of their life in the wild.

Koalas can live as long as 17 years, however males life expectancy is less than 10 years (due to injuries during fights, dogs and cars). Females generally live longer. Koalas living in an undisturbed habitat would have a greater life expectancy than those living in suburbia. Koalas prefer to move around just after sunset spending daytimes asleep in the fork of a tree.
