EODM Partnerships Demonstrated Commitment to Community Partnerships (D&I Plan, Principle 4) 1) Community Activity – Amidon-Bowen Elementary School/Office of Education - STEM “I’m An Engineer” activities (build a satellite & build a rover) - Fall activity October 8 – November 19 - Employee and Senior level participation encouraged 2) Competitive Employment Opportunities (CEO) Program/Office of Education - District of Columbia Public School (DCPS) Mentoring program - Mentors needed for high school students with disabilities - Mentoring is provided after work (4 hours/month for 6 months) EODM and the Office of Education is continuing its community partnership with Amidon-Bowen Elementary School using the NASA’s BEST modules for the I’m An Engineer program. The fall sessions will began on 10/8 for six weeks with a 3rd grade class. All are encouraged to volunteer (at least 3 consecutive sessions, if possible). If you miss this opportunity, it’ll repeat in the Spring. Past senior level participation has included Ellen Stofan and Jerri Bucholz – both greatly enjoyed and found it a rewarding experience and said they planned to participate in the future. The Competitive Employment Opportunities (CEO) Program is a DC public schools program to assist high school students with disabilities gain workplace knowledge and experience through mentorship. Requires a 6 month commitment. Past mentors have included Dr. Allen (SMD -Science Mission Directorate), an employee from (HEO – Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate), and an employee in Procurement. EODM and HRMD are planning to attend recruitment and community events for the Veterans community.

IT Services Update Microsoft Office Upgrade From MS Office 2010 to MS Office 2013 This Project is nearing completion, additional upgrades to occur this week ITCD has developed formal classroom training on the products as well as one hour workshops focused on the differences between Office 2010 and Office 2013 For additional information please visit the Office 2013 Upgrade Project page at http://itcd.hq.nasa.gov/office-2013.html NASA Account Management System (NAMS) Upgrade and available for use on November 12, 2014 NAMS is the Agency wide application used for requesting and management of IT Accounts and Physical Access to NASA resources and assets Upgrades and enhancements include improvements to the user experience through simplified input screens, improved request status tracking, and ease of use Customer outreach material and instructions will be distributed, training videos are available at https://icam.nasa.gov This upgrade will result in an outage of the IT Account and Physical request system from 5pm 07-Nov to 6am 12-Nov (Veterans Day weekend) No new, modifications to, or deletions to IT accounts or physical access with be possible through NAMS NAMS requests that are in progress will be migrated to the new system
Upcoming in 2015 Improved security and management of mobile devices The ACES End User Service Office has initiated a pilot for the deployment of Mobile Device Management service for the Agency Will be used by all mobile devices that access and/or store NASA information (Government issued and Personal) To participate in the pilot, register at; https://eu.ndc.nasa.gov/sites/centers/Lists/MDMPilotRegistration/AllItems.aspx Enhancements to the HQ telephone service Upgraded software phone capability, includes video Ability to retrieve your voice mail through your e-mail (Outlook) Ability to retrieve and manage your voice mail through a web browser

Accentuating Strengths and Professionalism through Influencing, Reflection and Education Audience: GS 9-12 NASA HQ civil servants (engineering, science, and administrative professionals) with at least one year of experience at HQ Purpose: A nine-month program that provides leadership development for a diverse group of individuals who have high potential to grow and take on more responsibility for the agency. Benefit: The program is developing a cadre of leaders in the lower levels for succession planning, while also enabling the individuals to best serve their organization.
