Signed into law June 30, 2004 Section 120. Fresh fruit and vegetable program Section 122. Access to local foods and school gardens Section 204. Local wellness policy Section 205. Team nutrition network Section 401. Sense of Congress regarding efforts to prevent and reduce childhood obesity

Section 120. Fresh fruit and vegetable program 8 grants to make fresh fruits and vegetables available to students during the school day In schools with no less than 50% students eligible for free and reduced meals Priority to schools that partner with non- Federal resources

Section 122. Access to local foods and school gardens Competitive matching grants to schools and nonprofits to: Promote farm-to-cafeteria activities, including school gardens Procure local foods for school meals Support nutrition education activities or curriculum involving children in agriculture education activities

Section 205. Team nutrition network A statewide multidisciplinary program for children to promote healthy eating and physical activity based on scientifically valid information and sound educational, social, and marketing principles.

Section 401. Sense of Congress regarding efforts to prevent & reduce childhood obesity The State of Arkansas is commended for its leadership in combating childhood obesity and could serve as a model for States across the United States.

Section 204. Local wellness policy Includes goals for nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities that are designed to promote student wellness in a manner that the LEA determines is appropriate.

Local wellness policy Includes nutrition guidelines selected by the LEA for all foods available on each school campus during the school day with the objectives of promoting student health and reducing childhood obesity.

Local wellness policy Guidelines for reimbursable school meals shall not be less restrictive than regulations and guidance issued by Secretary of Agriculture.

Local wellness policy Establishes a plan for measuring implementation of the policy. One person in school is designated with responsibility for ensuring compliance.

Local wellness policy Involves parents, students, representatives of the school food authority, the school board, school administrators and the public in the development of the school wellness policy.

Due Date School boards must adopt the wellness policies by the first day of the school year.
