Introduction to Human Computer Interaction Dr. Cheryl Seals Computer Science & Software Engineering Auburn University

1 I HC “Computers are incredibly fast, accurate and stupid. Humans beings are incredibly slow, inaccurate and brilliant. Together they are powerful beyond imagination.“ Albert Einstein

2 HCI? Interactive Systems vs. Non-interactive Systems Interactive Systems vs. Non-interactive Systems How do we interact? How do we interact? Media Media 5 sensory modalities 5 sensory modalities I/O devices I/O devices Process Process Models and theories Models and theories

3 HCI? It is a scientific and engineering discipline concerned with the theory, models, design, implementation and evaluation of interactive computational systems for the benefit of humans. Its goal is to make such systems more accessible, usable and usable to humans. HCI primarily study computer technology and people psychology.
