Goals

Objectives: Define "Goal Setting”. List five benefits of having Goals Discuss 10 principles/points to effective goal setting. Describe difference in long and short range goals and how they contribute to success. List the six steps to establishing goals. Identify eight goals for yourself. Describe how you can help students learn to set goals.

Objective 1: Define "Goal Setting”. How do you define a goal? What you would like to achieve. Webster defines a goal as. the terminal point of a race the end toward which effort is directed

Define "Goal Setting” continued... Goal setting is active not passive. Goal Setting is not wishing for something. Goal setting is effective for all walks of life and for all ages and for all social- economic groups.

"Goal Setting” Continued…. Goal setting is not magic Goal setting is not meaningless paper work Goal setting takes the uncertainty out of life. Goals are measurable.

Famous QUOTES Pamela Vaull Starr "Reach high, for the stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal."

Famous QUOTES Norman Vincent Peale "If you paint in your mind a picture of bright and happy expectations, you put yourself into a condition conducive to your goal."

Famous QUOTES Douglas Lurtan "When you determined what you want, you have made the most important decision of your life. You have to know what you want in order to attain it."

Famous QUOTES Robert J. McKain "Set priorities for your goals. A major part of successful living lies in the ability to put first things first. Indeed, the reason most major goals are not achieved is that we spend our time doing second things first."

Famous QUOTES Pete Johnson ""ACCURACY" - First and foremost, your ability to achieve success at a targeted, predetermined goal will be a direct function of the degree of consistent intensity which drives the momentum of your efforts."

Famous QUOTES Jerome P. Fleishman: "Most of us, swimming against the tides of trouble the world knows nothing about, need only a bit of praise or encouragement - and we will make the goal."

Famous QUOTES Orison Swett Marden "We advance on our journey only when we face our goal, when we are confident and believe we are going to win out."

Famous QUOTES Stephen A. Brennan "Our goal can only be reached through a vehicle of a pain, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success."

Famous QUOTES Clement Stone "You, too, can determine what you want. You can decide on your major objectives, targets, aims and destination."

Famous QUOTES Alfred A. Montapert "In life, the first thing you must do is decide what you really want. Weigh the costs and the results. Are the results worthy of the costs? Then make up your mind completely and go after your goal with all your might."

Famous QUOTES Mack R. Douglas “The achievement of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself to it."

Famous QUOTES Hannah More "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal."

Famous QUOTES Unknown "To live for some future goal is shallow. It's the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the top."

Famous QUOTES Albert Einstein "The ideals which have always shone before me and filled me with the joy of living are goodness, beauty, and truth. To make a goal of comfort or happiness has never appealed to me; a system of ethics built on this basis would be sufficient only for a herd of cattle."
