THE PRESIDENT'S AWARD-KENYA (PA-K)

Business Information Systems Students Association (BISSA) hosted a delegation from The President's Award-Kenya (PA-K), a first in Lower Kabete campus. The President’s Award is an exciting self-development programme available to all young people aged between years countrywide equipping them with positive life skills to make a difference for themselves, their communities, country and the world. It was launched in 1966 by the Founding Father of the nation, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

The Award is a member of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Association, which oversees the Award Programme for young people in over one hundred and twenty countries.His Royal Highness, Prince Phillip founded the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in 1956 Mr. Wambugu, one of the Program Coordinators said that the four sections covered in the program which encompass everything you would want to do in life. The four sections of the award being Service, Skills, Physical recreation and Adventurous journey. Mr. Malenya his colleague, added that for university students closer to 23 years, they should start the award at Gold level which would collectively take 18 months to complete. However students can start at Bronze level, which takes 6 months then silver which takes 12 Months, and finally Gold which takes 12 months.

All School of Business students below 24 years are encouraged to take advantage of this unique award which is the leading award for young people in the world. To start this exciting journey forward your name to the Campus award leaders, Mr. Becton Nyakango or Mr. Chris Githinji BISSA encouragesall other vibrant student organizationsthis campus is known for to have their members involved as the activities they each do can now be used to attain this prestigious award, while still complementing their studies.
