1 The Company Section Programme is entitled ‘Challenge Plus’

2 The Challenge Plus Programme will provide:
fully resourced Projects with tips and ideas for delivery flexibility of working in age groups or all ages together a wide range of activities a series of challenge cards faith development resources new award scheme new volunteering scheme links with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

4 How the programme will work . . .
The Challenge Plus programme is split into Projects and Challenges as follows: Projects will include taster activities that will be short sessions to act as an introduction, with the core project following on. Challenges are focussed on activities that could be completed by the group or as an individual.

5 What does a project / challenge look like . . . ?

6 Working with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award…
All projects have a direct link to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme file for Service, Skills, Expedition or Physical.

7 Award Scheme A Bronze, Silver or Gold Award each session recognising
the level of points a young person achieves. Awards will be recognised as follows: 10 points for Bronze 20 points for Silver 30 points for Gold Points are accumulated from gaining 5 points for each Project and 1 point for each Challenge completed. Minimum of 1 Project is required.

8 Young Volunteer Award A new award to recognise volunteering.
The Award can be gained: from year 5 up until the end of year 7 by completing a minimum of 50 hours through keeping a log of hours (using the ‘I-File’) at 3 different levels (50, 100 and 200 hours) The award will be recognised through presentation of a certificate / badge. Works alongside other awards.

9 The Queen’s Badge The Queen's Badge is the highest award that
may be gained by a member of The Boys' Brigade. It aims to challenge and equip the individual, provide new opportunities and expand horizons while remaining accessible to Candidates of all abilities.

10 Regulations for The Queen’s Badge
To gain The Queen’s Badge a young person must: 1. Hold the President's Badge. 2. Attend a Queen's Badge Candidate’s Meeting. 3. Participate in skills-based training. 4. Take Responsibility within the Brigade or Church. 5. Provide Voluntary Service or Support to others outside the Brigade and Church. 6. Develop Interests - undertake at least two activities from Skills, Physical and Expedition/Exploration. 7. Participate in a Completion Residential. 8. Record Activity.

13 Go MAD Award The Make a Difference award
has been created to recognise, encourage and reward young people who make a significant difference to the lives of others. To gain the award a young person must be nominated and be between 15 and 19 years of age. Look out for details of the 2009 Go Mad Awards in the Gazette.

14 A new service badge for use across all sections is now available.

15 125 Community Award The 125 Community Badge is an award,
which every member of the Company can gain by doing different tasks that help benefit their local area. Each member is encouraged to give at least 125 minutes of community focused service. Can be gained up until end of 2008/2009 session.
