Program Objective & Outcomes Objective: To provide a relevant and authentic learning experience for young people that fosters a strong entrepreneurial workforce in America Demonstrate the fundamental acumen needed in a successful business startup, including leadership, marketing, sales, financial management, and supply chain management Create a personal action plan incorporating entrepreneurial thinking, innovation and other 21 st century career readiness skills. Content Meeting 1: Ignite Your Entrepreneurial Spirit Entrepreneurial traits of self and other team members Company structure Meeting 2: Fill a Need Potential products and services to fill a need or solve a problem Group decision-making. Meeting 3: Vet the Venture Vet top potential product or service ideas SWOT analysis

Content Meeting 4: Strategy and Structure Begin research for JA Company Business Plan Lean product development Meeting 5: Finalize Strategy and Structure Finalize business plan elements Develop One-page business plan Accountability report for the local JA board Launch the company!

The Business Plan Provides information on the 5 key departments involved in starting a new business Students select their team based on Meeting 1 Entrepreneurial Inventory and unique needs of Company Divide into groups

Business Plan Task List In groups, students answer specific questions about their business Decide on team lead Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members Some tasks involve collaborating with other teams Used for reporting out in Meetings 6-11

Business Snapshot One-page business plan Informed by task list Ensures all students know high level company information and objectives May be used as internal document, or for JA Board of Directors, or potential investors

How We Teach The JA Company Program is Student-Led By Meeting 5, the students are in charge. Effective volunteers : Build relationships Prepare Understand the meeting goals Facilitate, don’t control Communicate and provide feedback Observe and gently intervene Appreciate good ideas and hard work
