Why is this important to do at this time? What will the goal accomplish? How are you going to do it? Measurable How will you measure whether or not the goal has been reached? Achievable Is the goal challenging yet doable? Do you have the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, and resources to accomplish the goal? Relevant What is the reason, purpose, or benefit of accomplishing the goal? How is it tied to the department, company and personal goals? Time-specific What is the established completion date and does that date create a practical sense of urgency? Reference the “SMART Goal Examples” presentation for specific examples.
