COMP322/S2000/L22 Definition of the word “Robot” (Cont’d) The “xwebster” dictionary: a machine that looks like a human being and performs various complex acts (as walking or talking) of a human being; a similar but fictional machine whose lack of capacity for human emotions is often emphasized; an efficient, insensitive, often brutalized person; (e.g. Robocop) an automatic apparatus or device that performs functions ordinarily ascribed to human beings or operates with what appears to be almost human intelligence; and a mechanism guided by automatic controls.

R.J.
