2 Muscular Strength and Endurance Defined n Muscular strength –The ability of a muscle or muscle groups to exert maximal force against a resistance one time through the full ROM –One repetition maximum (1RM) n Muscular endurance –The ability of a muscle or muscle group to exert submaximal force repeatedly over a period of time n Often difficult to separate the two in physical education
