Simple Present Use the simple present for an action is repeated or usual. The action can be a habit, something that happens daily or often, or a scheduled event. Examples: Every Thursday night, we watch The Office on TV. Joey and Jane walk to school.

Present Continuous Use the present continuous to stress the continuing nature of an action or activity. Examples: Mike is watching his favorite show on TV. The Smiths are looking for a new house. The present continuous can also refer to a future event, when a day or time is mentioned. Examples: The book fair is opening on Monday. I’m attending college in the fall.

Simple Past  An action or a series of actions started and finished in the past.  Example: Susan did her homework and then went to her friend Nancy's house.  A duration that started and finished in the past.  Example: Kim attended Harvard for three years.
