Degree Programmes in Accounting Comprehensive coverage of theory and practice in accounting and finance – rigorously academic programmes with vocational relevance Excellent basis for a career in the accountancy profession, but also for careers outside accountancy Close links with the large accountancy firms and professional accountancy bodies Exemptions from some of the examinations of the professional accountancy bodies 3

Entry requirements Standard A Level offer – AAB Excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking We do not accept UCAS tariff points Maths Grade A at GCSE English Language Grade B at GCSE International Baccalaureate A total of 34 points with 17 points at Higher Level and a minimum 5 points in all subjects

Application With a ratio of applicants to places of 11:1, you need to make sure your application is the best it can be Selection is based on the whole UCAS form – especially predicted grades and your personal statement We look for an active interest in the subject – e.g. through a relevant work experience, internships, entrepreneurship

4 year programmes It is possible to transfer to a 4 year programme and take an additional year between Level 2 and 3 Students may take either a Year in Industry or a Study Year Abroad Academic Requirements - a Year 1 average of at least 50 for a Year in Industry and 60 for a Study Year Abroad

Accounting Placements All of the big 4 firms now offer one year placements and effectively use them as a one year interview Placement students are treated the same as graduate recruits, have the chance to do professional exams and to return where they left off - this means that the placement does not add a year, it merely gives an earlier chance to apply There are many other finance placements, for example, at Lloyds TSB, IBM and Goldman Sachs

And another thing… There will be an ACCA accreditation talk in G31 from 1.00 till 1.30 pm. (Friday) The ACCA will also have a stand in the foyer
